The Civil Police are investigating the case of a 27-year-old woman murdered with blows to the head in the Jardim Colonial neighborhood, in Ribeirão das Neves, in Greater BH. The crime occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (23).

The victim is Marcinha Ribeiro, born in the state of Pernambuco. She was taken to Risoleta Neves Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and died on Wednesday afternoon (24).

According to the record made by Military police, Marcinha was at home when a man hit her in the head. A The doctor who treated the woman was unable to identify whether the injuries were caused by a firearm or other object.

Witnesses reported that the young woman was a sex worker. When the police arrived at the scene, the military tried to talk to the victim, but she had difficulty articulating the words.

The Civil Police reported that a man was taken to the police station and released after being interviewed by investigators.

For LGBTQIA+ NGO, victim did not have her social name respected

The Center for the Fight for Free Sexual Orientation of Minas Gerais (Cellos-MG) mourned the death of the young woman, who was a trans womanand said that he contacted the Human Rights Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG) and the Public Ministry.

According to the entity, Marcinha was identified by police based on her biological sex, which no longer had identification. Furthermore, Cellos states that the hospital did not notify the State of the death being a case of violence against women, nor did it present the victim as female.

By note, the State Secretariat of Justice and Public Security (Sejusp-MG) explained that in the police record there is, yes, possibility of completing the sexual orientation and gender identity campus of those involved, however, as it is a self-declaration field, it would only be possible at the request of the victim.

By note, Risoleta Neves stated that the woman arrived at the scene unconscious and was soon intubated, and that it was not possible to be aware of the victim’s social name. However, the report showed that Marcinha’s document did indeed contain her social name. Regarding this, the hospital did not respond.
