Marta, Ballon d’Or record holder, announces end of career with the national team

A Brazilian international Marta, voted the best player in the world on six occasions, stated that this is her last year with the national team’s jersey. The statement was made in an interview with CNN. At 38 years old, the Orlando Pride athlete expressed her desire to participate in the last Olympic Games.

“If I go to the Olympics, I will enjoy every moment, because, regardless of whether I go to the Olympics or not, this is my last year with the National Team. There is no longer Marta in the National Team as an athlete from 2025 onwards,” revealed.

The player said she is calm with the decision, stating that it is time to stop. She is optimistic about the future of the team and young athletes in Brazilian women’s football.

“This is my last year, I can confirm that here. There is a moment when we have to understand that the time has come. I am very calm about this, because I see with great optimism the development we are having with the athletes young people”, he reports.
