Official report indicates that 5-month-old baby died from head trauma in a daycare center in MT | Mato Grosso

The Official Expertise and Technical Identification (Politec) report pointed out that the 5 month old baby Vicente Camargo, died from head trauma, with no chance of asphyxiation, in a daycare center in Várzea Grande, metropolitan region of Cuiabá, on April 17th. The Homicide and Personal Protection Police Department (DHPP) received the results of the report this Thursday (25).

On the day of the baby’s death, the death certificate indicated head trauma caused by a blunt instrument. During the investigations, the delegate responsible for the case, Marlon Luz, requested an autopsy examination that confirmed the cause of death, as described in the death certificate.

The nursery’s defense informed that it will not comment on the case.

According to the Civil Police, the delegate evaluated the data indicated in the expert report and requested new information from the official expert in order to clarify other doubts that arose during the investigation. With the expert result, the Civil Police points out that the baby’s death actually occurred in the private daycare environment.

At first, the baby’s mother, Karine Camargo, said that daycare workers thought that Vicente had died from asphyxiation, that he had choked on milk. However, according to the police, forensics ruled out this hypothesis.

The police continue with investigations in order to gather more important elements for the investigation that can provide clarification on the baby’s death. The victim’s family, witnesses and daycare staff are being interviewed.

The delegate said that he will only comment after the answers to the additional questions to the expert report.

Vicente Camargo died on April 17, in a nursery in Bairro Marajoara, in Várzea Grande. According to the family, the baby’s mother sent a message around 2pm asking about her son, but received no response.

According to a cousin, the baby arrived at the hospital already dead. According to her, this was the fourth day that the child had returned to the nursery.

The delegate responsible for the case, Marlon Luz, opened an investigation to investigate the death to find out whether the cause was accidental, manslaughter or intentional homicide.
