In the administrative region of Emater/RS-Ascar de Lajeado, in Bom Princípio, cucumber cultivation faces challenges due to the alternation in production caused by humid days and the lack of direct solar radiation. These climatic conditions have resulted in aborted flowers and malformed fruits. As highlighted in the Economic Information released this Thursday (25/04) by Emater/RS-Ascar, linked to the State Secretariat for Rural Development (SDR), salad-style cucumbers are sold, on average, at R$ 50.00 per 20 kg box.

Japanese cucumbers have an average price of R$85.00 per 18-kilo box. In addition, poor quality cucumbers, with malformations or other defects, are also being sold, with the salad type reaching R$35.00 per 20 kg box and the Japanese one at R$45.00 per 18 kg box. In São Sebastião do Caí, the pickled cucumber crop is in the development and harvesting phase, but problems related to diseases have been observed, which are being controlled. The price reflects the reduction in supply during this period, with a 20-kilo box being sold at R$170.00 at Ceasa.

In the Soledade region, in Vale do Sol, the pickled cucumber harvest, both in the field and in greenhouses, is underway, with the plants reaching the end of their cycle. The price paid to the producer is R$5.00 per kilo by the industry and R$8.00 per kilo at the local fair.
