Tourists from Vale do Taquari are on a bus that overturned on the night of Thursday, 25th, in Chile. Two people died and 40 were injured. The accident happened at kilometer 27 of the international route 27CH, a highway that connects Paso Jama, on the border with Argentina, and San Pedro de Atacama.

Resident of Estrela, Caren Polo was on the bus at the time of the accident. She reports being well. “Many were injured, but I am fine. They are people from different parts of the state,” she comments. Initial information states that the tourists left Porto Alegre on Monday and would spend a week traveling in Chile.

News portals in the border region report that one of the victims is Elenice Terezinha Mezzomo Preto, a resident of David Canabarro. According to preliminary information, she was a teacher at the Assis Brasil State Educational Institute, in the same city.

The vehicle, which was transporting Brazilian tourists, overturned for reasons that are being investigated. The collective occupied 40 passengers and two drivers. An adult woman is among the victims.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office instructed the Traffic Accident Investigations Section (SIAT) and the Police Investigations Section (SIP) of the Carabineros to investigate the scene of the incident.
