Popular jury clears individuals accused of accountant’s death in Franca

On Thursday, the 25th, the Court acquitted the trio accused of participating in the murder of accountant Alexsander Silva Terêncio, aged 45, inside his office in Franca, which took place in May 2021. Maycon Fernando Oliveira (34 years old), Marcos Vinícius de Oliveira (26 years old) and Wendel Silva Bráulio (24 years old) were acquitted after a popular trial in the city forum.

The prosecutor in the case stated that the evidence collected during the process was not sufficient to convict the defendants, despite Maycon’s previous confessions to the police. Initially, Maycon admitted to having been hired by the pai de santo Juliano Melo da Silva to commit the crime, but later denied his participation in court.

The accused were released after the trial, awaiting the release permit. According to the police, the crime was motivated by the discovery of a corruption scheme that embezzled almost R$1 million from the City of Capetinga, MG, by the murdered accountant. Father Juliano Melo da Silva, identified as the mastermind of the crime, is on the run.
