There is repeat good news in the fuel sector, this time covering not only diesel, which continues to be the most used fuel in Portugal, but also gasoline. Both, this time, with the same price drop…

After, last week, only diesel saw its price per liter fall, this Monday, the drops also cover simple 95 octane gasoline, which, according to the General Directorate of Energy and Geology (DGEG) , should now present a reference price of €1.802 per liter. Which represents a drop of 2 cents compared to the average price charged last week.

Simple diesel, this week, records a new drop, also by two cents, which should cause it to register a reference price per liter, in the order of €1,586.

Regarding this price forecast, it is important to say that it is based on the values communicated by gas stations, weighted with the quantities sold in the last known period, and already incorporating practical discounts at gas stations such as fleet cards and others.

However, despite all these factors being considered, this does not prevent the prices now published from being merely indicative, given that this is a liberalized market.

In fact, even in the area of state support to combat rising fuel prices, the fact that Portugal now has a new Government, nothing has changed yet. Maintaining the 15.1 cents of support, in the case of a liter of diesel, and 16.3 cents, in the case of a liter of gasoline.

Therefore, and because prices are always subject to variations according to the brand, retailer and even the region of the country where the fuel is sold, DGEG recommends consulting the website ‘Fuel Prices Online’, so that you can find out which stations with the cheapest fuel in the area where you are located.
