Driver notices mechanical failure and jumps out of truck before accident

The Fire Department was called, around 2:40 pm this Monday (29), to respond to a traffic accident recorded on the SC-160, at the Santa Rita Line, in the interior of the municipality of Saltinho, in the west of Santa Catarina. At the scene there was a collision against the runway protection followed by a departure from the runway.

A truck with license plates from Francisco Beltrão/PR was involved in the accident, and the cargo that was packed on pallets came loose and hit the vehicle’s cabin.

The driver, a 33-year-old man, was approximately 30 meters before the truck’s first impact, lying on the highway and suffering a possible fracture to his left arm and a cut to the back of his head with slight depression. According to the driver, upon noticing the mechanical failure in the vehicle, he jumped out of the cabin.

Pre-hospital care procedures were carried out and the man was taken to Hospital Santo Antônio de Campo Erê. The Military Highway Police was also called to the incident.
