Today, the Funchal City Council hosts the 3rd Gathering of the “Youth Gatherings” Project, entitled: “Young People and Associativism”. It will take place, in the Municipal Assembly Room of Funchal, at 6:30 pm, and will bring together, in conversation, three young people from the youth associations active in the municipality of Funchal: Ricardo Bonifácio, president of the Academic Association of the University of Madeira (AAUMa), Mariana Spínola, leader of the Association of Scouts of Portugal (AEP) and Mónica Silva of the Association of Young Madeirans Connected (AJMC). This round table will be moderated by Mara Abreu, president of the Board of the General Assembly of the Association for the Support of Children and Young People (AACCJ).

“This meeting aims to celebrate Young Associations Day, marked on this date and aims to promote discussion of the importance of youth associations for the municipality and for the young people who are part of it, as well as the main challenges currently facing associations. youth, taking into account the different contexts in which they are inserted”, states a note from the CMF.

To this end, this round table will involve young people and youth associations from different associative contexts – student, scout and youth – who will share their associative experience and will have a moderator also from the associative context to facilitate the conversation between these young people and the participants of the event.

Young Associations Day, marked today, April 30, aims to “reinforce the relevance of associations as a practice of active citizenship and a means of social learning, highlighting the role of young people in promoting democratic values, recognizing and promoting the activity of the movement association, as a way of stimulating, in young people, a taste for civic intervention and fostering the values ​​and skills acquired in associative activity.”

The ‘Juvenile Tertúlias’ project is a project of the Youth Division of Funchal City Council and consists of organizing monthly conversations with several young talents and/or with important professional careers in different areas who can share their experience with other young people and can make their journey known, addressing the various themes considered relevant to young people in the Municipality, and to be held in different locations around the city, and aimed at the young student population.
