Images captured by a security camera from the Vigia Mais MT program, run by the Mato Grosso State Department of Public Security (Sesp-MT), became criminal evidence of an attempted murder recorded in Nobres (120 km from Cuiabá).
Named as the author of the shooting, a 17-year-old teenager was apprehended minutes after the incident.
Every video captured by the program’s cameras has a certification system that makes it criminal evidence. Therefore, images can be attached to legal proceedings as part of the content proving the crime.
The city of Nobres is 100% monitored by the Vigia Mais MT program. There are more than 120 cameras installed throughout the urban perimeter at points considered strategic by the police.

The attempted murder was recorded on Saturday night (27) in Jardim Petrópolis. The Military Police located the victim lying near the scene of the crime.
The 19-year-old man reported that he was on the road when the teenager arrived shooting at him. To protect himself, he fled, but ended up with an injury to his arm.
The moment the teenager arrived at the scene and chased the victim with the gun in his hands was caught on camera.
With the information about the perpetrator gathered, the police took steps and apprehended the teenager with the help of witnesses minutes later.
The suspect needed treatment and was then taken to the police headquarters, where a police report was registered. He was later handed over to the Civil Police, responsible for conducting the investigations. A 38 caliber revolver and six ammunition were also seized.
The victim was rescued by family members and taken to the city hospital.
Constant monitoring
The Vigia Mais MT program was launched by the Government in March 2023. Even before the launch, the program had already been presented to mayors and institutions, who expressed immediate interest in joining.
The equipment was delivered after formalizing a cooperation agreement. Installing the cameras is the partner’s responsibility. After installation, Ciosp will have access to all captured images.
The criteria for defining the number of cameras allocated to each municipality take into account the population, per capita income and crime rates. The installation points are defined based on study and analysis of criminal data, and strategic action plans made by public security bodies – Military Police, Civil Judiciary Police and Fire Department.
Public and private entities, individuals, legal entities, bodies, entities, councils, commercial associations of the federal, state and municipal public administration, in addition to inter-municipal public consortia, can qualify for the Vigia Mais MT program.
