Rui Barreto, Regional Secretary of Economy, Sea and Fisheries, argues that “more construction for the middle class at lower prices” is necessary. The government official was speaking about the opening, this morning, of the Portuguese Real Estate Show, which is taking place until Sunday in Lisbon, and where four companies from the region are taking part.
“It is important to be here to show the best that the Region has in terms of real estate, but it is important to say that it is necessary to balance the relationship between demand and supply. In other words, we have to have more construction and more construction for the middle class at lower prices,” he said.
In this sense, Rui Barreto argues that it is necessary, and remembering the statements of the Minister of Housing, a new legal framework that speeds up construction processes so that supply and demand meet and so that construction is not biased toward mid-range housing. -high and very-high.
“It is necessary to act from a fiscal point of view so that people with fewer resources and young people have a more attractive benefits package. And why not also rethink the subsidized interest rate and act on the supply side to carry out more construction for all segments of the population, because only in this way can social balance be generated, which is absolutely important”, he reinforced.
Finally, the Secretary of Economy was satisfied with the potential of the sector which “has contributed a lot to the economy of Madeira”.
