The roof of the structure where three people were working collapsed due to the wind generated by the helicopter; accident at Agrishow occurred on Thursday morning
An accident involving a private helicopter scared visitors and workers at Agrishow, this Thursday, 2, in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. Two people were injured and were taken by ambulance to a private hospital in the city. One of them, a young man, in a very serious condition. According to Agro Estadão, he had suffered head trauma. The third victim, also a young man, was taken to Agrishow’s emergency room in a state of shock.
According to information, the accident happened around 9 am. The man and woman who were injured worked in a beverage distribution tent. Witnesses told Agro Estadão that the helicopter was flying low, preparing to land, when the wind generated by the propellers lifted the roof of the shed, which ended up collapsing on top of the workers. According to reports, the helicopter was from Banco Santander, landed and the passengers got off safely. The aircraft then took off. According to the Military Police, the case was forwarded to the Judiciary Police Center (CPJ) and will be investigated.
What Santander says
In a statement, Santander “deeply regrets the incident due to wind displacement during the landing process of its helicopter at Agrishow”. The institution says it is awaiting investigations into the causes, and, regardless of this, it has already received confirmation from Agrishow organizers that the victims are receiving all necessary assistance.
The fair organization temporarily suspended helicopter operations. In a note, he clarified that all international and Anac technical standards have been followed in all air operations during the fair, for more than eight years. “Regarding the operational aspect, the organization presented the operating rules to the pilots of all aircraft that showed interest in using the space. In addition, we provide informative material with all the technical and operational standards to be followed, in PDF and video”, said the note.
