The Confidentes Masonic Lodge of Vila Rica invites everyone to the cultural presentation “The offering of Sound, the Song of Dhrupad”. The event takes place on May 18th, at pm, at the Ouro Preto Opera House.
Dhrupad singing is a rich tradition of Indian classical music. It originates from the study of Vedic hymns and mantras. Its development came from the desire to venerate the Sacred through sound.
Having originated in temples, after domination by the Mughal Empire it expanded to different spaces, maintaining its purpose of linking human beings to divinity. The song has a complex and elaborate grammar and aesthetics.
Dhrupad can be seen as a meditation, a form of yoga based on knowledge of the nadis and chakras and also as a performative art evoking a vast universe of human emotions. It is a deeply spiritual and meditative song. The performance will take place on May 18, 2024, at 7 pm, at the Ouro Preto Opera House.
Tickets worth R$ 20.00, with proceeds going to Fundação Sorria.
