Tite takes responsibility after Flamengo’s embarrassment in the Libertadores: “Confidence has fallen”

Situation got complicated

Really, things are not going well at Flamengo. Last Tuesday (7), Rubro-Negro from Rio da Janeiro ended losing to Palestino, from Chile, by the score of 1 to 0and it got complicated in the Copa Libertadores da América.

Now, with the setback in the fourth round, the team led by Tite lost second place in Group E, remaining with four points and being surpassed exactly by the Chilean team, which now has six. Bolívar, from Bolivia, remains in the lead, with nine.

A large part of the nation was outraged by the performance of their team. One of the main targets was Wesley, the team’s right-back. However, the moment hasn’t been making fans fall in love with their current coach either.

In fact, Tite ended up speaking out about the current scenario experienced by Mais Querido, and took responsibility for himself about the sudden drop in performance of his team, which went on to impress in the state championship.

Confidence is shaken

In the press conference after the game, the Clube Carioca commander revealed that everyone is to blame for the current situation, but stated that the first person to blame has to be the technicianafter yet another bad performance.

“It is first agreed with the coach, because he has the greatest responsibility. But it is shared with the entire work group, but the technician is the first. The moment, the work, the tactical part, balancing all these physical situations are up to the coach. It belongs to the individuality, yes, of the athletes, but it belongs first to the coach“, he said.

He also highlighted that the team’s confidence was shaken and that it needs to be restored: “There’s a little word that is very important in football, and the result allows you to do that, which is a confidence builder. The level we were at at a given time fell because confidence also fell. There is a tactical aspect to adjust, the individual, the technical and the physical. It’s always a whole context. This aspect of trust makes you flow with things, and we have to rescue”, he added.

Fla has two more rounds, at home, to qualify to the round of 16: against the leader Bolívar, and against the last placed Millonarios, from Colombia. On Saturday (11), the Cariocas return to the field against Corinthians, for the Brazilian Championship.
