Israeli tourist Alma Bohadana, aged 22, was found dead on Rua Almirante Alexandrino, in Santa Teresa (RJ), on Monday night (6). According to the Military Police, the young woman fell from a wall when approached by a group. At least three people have already been interviewed this Tuesday (7), by the Homicide Police, including her friend, Dan Hen.
The boy, who gave one of the most important statements in the investigation, was with Alma when the tragedy occurred. According to him, the Israeli tried to move away from the approach of the occupants of a red car, who wanted her belongings, when she fell from a height of around 15 meters. The pair, in turn, were returning from a hike to Christ the Redeemer at the time.
Dan added that he and Alma were very close to the road’s protective wall, and that the man advanced towards his friend. At that moment, she tried to move away, lost her balance on the wall and fell. The people inside the car fled.
The Israeli also said he went down the stairs looking for Bohadana, but it was difficult to find her because of the number of trees and the darkness. When he found her, she was still alive and crying in pain, according to Dan. Alma had several fractures and died before firefighters arrived at the scene, who were called around 7pm.
Two other witnesses who saw when Dan went to help Alma also testified at the Homicide Police Station. An Israeli friend, who is traveling with the boy and who is staying in the same hostel, told the police that they arrived in Rio for the Madonna concert and decided to stay a few more days.
The witness also said that they had just met Alma, who was traveling alone across the country. A representative from the Israeli Consulate accompanied the young people to the police station, but they did not want to speak to the press. Even with all the statements, the police are not ruling out any hypothesis.
According to g1, the tourist’s body was taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) and is awaiting release. Before going to Rio de Janeiro, Alma Bohadana spent around 3 months in Salvador, Bahia. In the hostel where she stayed, she even drew a mandala with capoeiristas. Staff at the establishment said they were shocked by the young woman’s premature death. One of them said that Alma loved Brazil and that it was “deeply happy in Bahia”.
“A beautiful soul, an artist, always smiling, radiant, talkative, very intelligent. We had fun, laughed, talked and danced a lot. She had learned to samba and shared a lot of her Israeli culture. She will forever stay here, with us, in the mandala that she painted with so much love, in every detail”declared the employee.
