With the aim of training women and meeting a demand in the job market in the area of health and well-being, the company SPA do Ouro, with support from the Municipality of Ouro Preto, through the Secretariat of Social Development and Citizenship, promotes the course , at an international level, of massage therapy. In other words, techniques based on “deep tissue”, a deeper massage known in Europe and the United States, in addition to Shiatsu, which comes from Japanese culture, and Reflexology, from German culture.
The classes are led by the naturologist and creator of SPA do Ouro, Brisa Almeida Gonçalves, who has 15 years of experience in SPAs and hotels. She explains that the teachings focus on massage therapy, aromatherapy and phytotherapy with methodology for luxury hotels: “There is no professional like this in the region, with a high level standard of exclusive, personalized service and refined techniques”, said Brisa.
The initiative is already in its second group, it includes 5 women, including Camila Passos: “my expectation is to have a profession, that’s why I’m seeking this knowledge”, declared Camila.
The total course load is 40 hours, 30 hours of which are theoretical and 10 hours practical. The classes cover, among other topics, anatomy, massage psychology, how to help the client improve their quality of life, reflexology, shiatsu, sports relaxation, and enable professionals to form partnerships with both SPA do Ouro, as well as can undertake.
The selection of students was carried out by the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) São Cristóvão, based on residents referred by the social assistance unit and the criterion of being outside the formal job market.
Brisa spoke in more detail about this opportunity, which requires time availability and the desire to work with the care of others. “Our hands are an extension of our hearts. I realize that massage therapy that empowers women depends on the woman’s moment, for example, in a career transition, we have had a student trained in administration, who opened a business, took a break and today she is one of the main massage therapists”, said Brisa .
SPA do Ouro is inspired by B companies, that is, companies that do not just aim for profit, but that do good for the world, especially with social impact for women.
