Luxury, space and efficiency define the renewed Audi Q7 TFSIe quattro and Q8 TFSIe quattro, now equipped with a more efficient electric motor and a new battery to go further in electric mode.

More technological than ever, the exterior appearance was redesigned as part of the update and the optional equipment was significantly improved.

Both plug-in hybrid SUVs can now be ordered, with entry into this line costing over 87 thousand euros.

Further in “tram”

There are three hybrid solutions plugin for the four rings brand’s larger SUVs, having in common the 3.0-liter, six-cylinder in-line gasoline engine with 250 kW (340 hp) and 500 Nm.

It is combined with a 130 kW (177 hp) and 460 Nm electric drive and a new 25.9 kWh battery for a combined range of up to 85 kilometers.

The Q8 60 TFSIe quattro benefits from a newly designed electric motor for a combined maximum power and torque of 490 hp and 700 Nm.

If the first two accelerate from zero to 100 km/hour in 5.7 seconds, the more powerful version reduces this time to five seconds.

The three proposals have a maximum speed electronically limited to 240 km/hour, reducing to 135 km/hour when in all-electric mode.

New features

A new feature included in the update of the Q7 and Q8 TFSIe quattro is the “intelligent” recharging of the battery only above 65 km/hour when the thermal engine charging mode is selected.

This means that it is no longer constantly asked to charge it, this function being done through braking, which can reach up to 80 kW of power.

Charging mode ends when the battery has been recharged to 75% of its capacity to maintain conservation and increase energy efficiency.

During regenerative decelerations, this capacity reaches a maximum of 25 kW thanks to predictive assistance, decelerating or accelerating depending on the distance in relation to the vehicle in front.

When connected to the electrical plug, however, only count on alternating current at 7.4 kW, which leads to a waiting time of 3h45 to fully charge the battery.
