Marielle Franco case: PGR denounced alleged masterminds behind the murder of councilwoman and driver

The Attorney General’s Office sent, on Wednesday (8), to the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, a complaint against the counselor of the Rio Court of Auditors Domingos Brazão; federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão (no party-RJ); and delegate Rivaldo Barbosa, former head of the state’s Civil Police, for participating in the murders of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes. The three have been in pre-trial detention since April 24 because they were identified as those responsible for the murder. They deny having committed the crimes.

According to investigations by the Federal Police, former military police officer Ronnie Lessa revealed that, in the second quarter of 2017, Chiquinho, then a councilor in Rio de Janeiro, had become out of control due to Marielle’s actions against a bill that he and his brother , Domingos Brazão, wanted the regularization of a condominium in the Jacarepaguá region, in the West Zone of the city, without respecting the criteria of an area of ​​social interest.

Still in the statements, Lessa says that Barbosa was important for the murders to be committed. The delegate would act to ensure that the Brazão brothers remained immune from any involvement in the case, preventing any investigation from reaching Chiquinho and Domingos. Ronnie Lessa has been in prison since 2019. He is identified as the author of the shots that killed Marielle and Anderson, in March 2018. BNews
