Actor said goodbye to Rick Grimes to dedicate himself to other projects.

More than five years separated Andrew Lincoln’s departure from The Walking Dead and his big return as Rick Grimes in the spin-off The Ones Who Live. But what has the actor, now 50, been up to in the meantime?

Andrew was barely involved in other projects. In addition to theatrical commitments, between 2019 and 2023 the star was seen in an episode of the horror anthology series The Cabinet of Curiosities, by Guillermo del Toro, and in the drama An Unexpected Miracle, based on real events.

True story: This is the plot of An Unexpected Miracle

In the film, Lincoln plays the family man Cameron Bloomwhose wife Sam (Naomi Watts) is suddenly paralyzed from the waist down after a serious accident while on vacation in Thailand. The family’s life is completely turned upside down and Sam, Cameron and their three children struggle to deal with their new reality.

One day, an injured bird visits the family, who take care of it. The bird, affectionately called Penguin, enters the Blooms’ hearts as a welcome distraction, and soon begins to influence them in unexpectedly beneficial ways.

An Unexpected Miracle is available on Prime Video, and is based on the moving true story of the book Penguin Bloom, published in 2016 by the real Cameron Bloom and Australian author Bradley Trevor Greive.
