Who is Major Ronald, who helped define the place and date of Marielle’s murder, according to the PGR

The PGR (Attorney General’s Office) denounced on Thursday, 9, Ronald Paulo de Alves Pereira, known as Major Ronald, as being in charge of obtaining information regarding the routine of councilwoman Marielle Franco (PSOL), shot dead in 2018 , in the center of Rio de Janeiro.

According to the agency, Ronald monitored the parliamentarian’s social networks, discovered that she would be at an event at Casa das Pretas, located on Rua dos Inválidos, and thus “found the opportunity to carry out the murder”.

Who is Major Ronald?

Ronald Paulo de Alves Pereira worked as a military police officer and is named as the former head of the Muzema militia, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro.

In 2019, he was arrested on suspicion of participation in the deaths of Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes. Furthermore, he had been convicted of participating in the Via Show Chacina case, in which four young people were killed after being kidnapped by military police officers as they left a party.

On Thursday, Major Ronald was the subject of an arrest warrant, but is already being held in a federal prison.
