Goiânia – The expertise of the Scientific Police of Goiás concluded that the accident that killed four military police officers from the Border Operations Command (COD), in Cachoeira Alta, occurred after the driver of the truck that collided with the vehicle entered the wrong lane.
The accident happened on April 24th on BR-364. The four police officers who were in the vehicle died. The victims are sub-lieutenant Gleidson Rosalen Abib; First Sergeant Liziano José Ribeiro Júnior; third sergeant Anderson Kimberly Dourado de Queiroz; and Corporal Diego Silva de Freitas. The name of the driver and the company responsible for the truck were not disclosed. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), on the day of the accident, the driver took a breathalyzer test, which came back negative.

According to the Scientific Police, the expert report evaluated the tire marks on the road to understand the dynamics of the collision. According to the document, the truck was traveling at a speed between 110 km/h and 120 km/h.
“[O caminhão] was traveling in the opposite direction [ao da viatura] and, at the point where the tire marks remained materialized on the asphalt network, he was traveling in the opposite direction, invading the opposite lane of traffic where he was traveling [o outro veículo]”, highlights an excerpt from the report.
Still according to the document, the expert verified signs that the vehicle left the road to try to avoid the truck and avoid the accident. “The conductor [da viatura] he swerved to the right, entering the shoulder, which, however, was not enough to avoid the collision”, he concluded.
Accident on duty
As a result of the collision, both the truck and the police vehicle were destroyed. In a statement, the PM reported that the soldiers were on duty during a service at the time of the collision. The bodies were laid to rest and buried on April 25th, after a procession.
