Pro-Russian hackers attack unprecedented 800 French websites

Cyber wars are common between countries, as is the current example of Russia and France. In an attempt to obtain information or simply leave websites without service, this type of war has the advantage of being carried out remotely. According to the most recent information, an “unprecedented” computer attack in France affected 800 State websites. The “fault” lies with pro-Russian hackers.

Hacker attacks from Russia were “unprecedented”…

French Public Service Minister Stanislas Guerini recently revealed that pro-Russian hackers claimed massive attacks on some 800 French websites. According to what was mentioned, “the French State experienced an attack on an unprecedented scale, in intensity, in time and in an increase in the number of attack points”.

The French minister also said that these massive attacks were unprecedented, because 800 administrative websites were attacked at once.

The anti-cyberattack section of the Paris Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation last Tuesday. The attacks particularly targeted the services of the Ministries of Economy, Culture, Ecological Transition, the Prime Minister's services or the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC).

A notable fact in this crisis is that, at no point did we lose the thread of communication, all administrations, all public agents were well informed in real time and this did not destabilize the State in its functioning.

With regard to the perpetrators of the attack, the minister was “very cautious” not pointing the blame at Anonymous Sudan (a group that supports Russia and various Islamist causes), merely saying that it was Anonymous.

A certain number of names were mentioned: I prefer to point out Anonymous, more than Sudan… And, in any case, a great presumption about an almost certain loyalty to Russophile networks.

For Guerini, everything “is part of a hybrid war that countries are already experiencing”.
