UA resident of Belluno, Italy, had an Easter Monday that was hard to forget. The woman was walking her dog at 7am local time when she came across a wolf.

The street was deserted, due to the time of day and it being a public holiday in this Italian city, when the animal approached. Immediately, the woman realized that she was in danger. “The wolf was ready to attack. I started screaming. Instinctively I grabbed Luna [cadela] under his arm, but the wolf showed no intention of moving away,” he told local media.

When the animal got even closer, the woman decided to attack it with an umbrella, while continuing to scream.

Only then did the wolf decide to move away. He climbed a staircase and walked away growling.

“Otherwise, I’m sure he would have attacked me”, highlighted the woman, showing concern about these animals approaching houses, “in an area of the country where children usually play in the street with dogs”.

The presence of the wolf in Belluno was captured by a video surveillance camera. “It was only because of this that the authorities believed that it was not a lie from April 1st”, added the Italian.

Although it is not common to see wolves in Belluno, there are more and more reports of these sightings, especially in the winter months.
