Daniel Sancho, who has been imprisoned in Samui prison in Thailand for almost eight months, will begin his trial on April 9 for the murder of Colombian Edwin Arrieta. The Spaniard appears to be in one of the most “friendly” prisons in Thailand. “The environment is good, they treat us well and there is no type of violence or drugs“, he explains to the Efe agency, cited by The world.Daniel Sancho is in the hospital wing of the prison, where prisoners with a health problem or in an adaptation period are placed. The prison is not crowded, unlike other prisons in the country. In Samui prison there are 500 prisoners, who wear beige sweaters and dogfish. He currently shares a cell with around 50 inmates, who sleep on mats or the floor. He once had to sleep with just 15 other prisoners, but the number had to be increased due to renovations at the prison. They are required to be in their cell between 4:00 pm and 6:20 am.

Daniel Sancho tells Efe, cited by The world, who does yoga daily alone and trains Muay Thai with other inmates. In addition to outdoor activities, there is also a library available. “I’m reading a lot. I haven’t read in years,” he said.

The 29-year-old is accused of killing and dismembering Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta, cutting him into 14 parts and dumping them in various parts of the island of Koh PhaNgan, in Thailand.
