Qfour police officers assisted in the birth of triplets, on the porch of a house in Colorado, United States, with the help of a plastic-coated wire zipper used to close bags (for example, bags of bread).

The case happened in the early hours of April 18, when officers from the Greeley Police Department were alerted to the screams of a woman.

Upon arriving at the scene, the four police officers found the 24-year-old woman “lying on the porch” of a house, in clear distress, according to a statement released by the authorities, which also notes that “it was snowing and raining”.

“Officers quickly realized that the woman’s water had broken” and that she was “in labor”, and called emergency medical personnel to the scene, while trying to do “their best to keep her comfortable until upon arrival of the ambulance.”

“Almost immediately after calling the doctors, the officers heard a very faint cry and realized” that the baby had been born, “but was turning blue.”

One agent found the wire ties “from the bread” to “tie the umbilical cord, while another ran to neighboring houses and collected towels and blankets to help keep the new family warm.” A third officer, who was still with the mother and baby, “tied the umbilical cord and cut it”. The fourth officer “took the baby” to the patrol car, “where it was much warmer.”

“Once inside the vehicle, the baby stopped breathing”, which led the agent to begin cardiopulmonary resuscitation and chest compressions, at the same time that doctors arrived and took charge of the situation.

“While all this was happening, the woman informed the agent who was taking care of her that she was expecting triplets. When the agents found out about this, they immediately called more medical personnel to the scene, to help the other babies and the mother”, he reports. the note.

At the same time that the agents “were comforting the mother, a second baby was born” with their help. The agents “wrapped this baby, tied the umbilical cord and cut it.” This second baby “was also taken to the ambulance, where medical personnel were still treating the first” newborn.

The two babies “were taken to a local hospital to receive advanced medical care” and in the meantime, a second ambulance arrived, where the mother was taken to be transported to the same hospital as her children and to be “operated to give birth to birth the last baby.”

“The officers were ecstatic to learn that the three babies had strong heartbeats and were being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” highlights the police.

Police believe that the woman went into labor when she was alone at home, but her cell phone was turned off, and she tried to get to a neighbor’s house to call the emergency number.

Police Chief Adam Turk praised officers for their efforts.

“I was amazed by the teamwork, ingenuity and care that our agents provided to this mother and her three newborn children”, he said, quoted in the same note.

To McClatchy News, the babies’ father revealed that the triplets were only due to be born on July 25th.
