In an interview with Metropole Radio this Thursday (14), architect Fernando Peixoto criticized the use of the Transfer of the Right to Build Transcon in Salvador and said it is “immoral”. Transcon is a document issued by City Hall to pay owners of land that are of interest to the city. With it, it is possible to increase the construction potential of a given piece of land.

“Transcon is immoral and self-demoralizing. By law, a piece of land gives [para construir] a ten-story building, then you pay to be able to put up 20 floors. Transcon makes it double in size”, he said during an interview with Mário Kertész.

Still during the interview, the architect mentioned the sale of a green area in the Corredor da Vitória, the auction of which was scheduled for next Friday (15) was suspended after a decision by the 6th Federal Court of Salvador, in response to a measure of urgency required by the Bahia Architecture and Urban Planning Council (CAU/BA). “They are selling the victory green area, but not to occupy it, but it will be included in the coefficient. Take the land, put it in the coefficient and then a transcon and the construction will result in a 200-story building”, he pointed out.
