Cassiano Ricardo Cultural Foundation

Of the 29 volumes produced and released since 1987 by the São José dos Campos Folklore Museum, as part of the Cadernos de Folclore Collection, 10 were written exclusively by women and another 4 had their participation. They are folklorists, historians, teachers, writers and researchers.

Among the individual authors are Cáscia Frade, Darcy Breves de Almeida, Leila Gasperazzo Ignatius Grassi, Maria do Rosário de Souza Tavares de Lima, Maria Graziela B. dos Santos, Maria Thereza LA Camargo (2 volumes), Mariana de Carvalho Ilheo, Ruth Guimarães and Zuleika de Paula.

Folklorist Angela Savastano and historian Maria Siqueira Santos appear as authors in other volumes, in partnership, respectively, with folklorist Toninho Macedo (in 1 volume) and historian Fábio Martins Bueno (in 3 volumes).

The Folklore Notebooks Collection is a project of the Folklore Museum, with the annual launch of a book on some research in the area of ​​popular culture. The publication takes place in a partnership between CECP (Center for Popular Culture Studies) and the Cassiano Ricardo Cultural Foundation.

This year, on the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8), the museum is carrying out, until the end of the month, an activity entitled Women in Folklore – The female presence in folk literaturewhich includes an exhibition of books (some from the Cadernos de Folclore Collection) and reading tips from different authors.

The program also includes a chat on the 23rd (Saturday), from 2pm to 5pm, in Sala das Panelas, with folklorists Angela Savastano, Darcy Breves and Lilian Vogel, as well as professor, researcher and writer Sonia Gabriel. The meeting is open to the public and does not require prior registration.

31 works by 16 different authors were selected for the exhibition, including Maria Amália Corrêa Giffoni, Angela Savastano, Cáscia Frade, Ruth Guimarães, Sonia Gabriel, Darcy Breves, Lilian Vogel and Leila Gasperazzo Ignatius Grassi.

Among the works are Cobras and Crendices (Maria do Rosário de Souza Tavares), Folklore: theories-concept-field of action (Niomar de Souza Pereira), Antologia do Folclore Cubatense (Luzia Maltez da Guarda) and Folklore in the current experience of Açu , Marreca and Quixaba (Maria Rita da Silva Lubatti).

Management

The Folklore Museum is a space of the Cassiano Ricardo Cultural Foundation, which has been operating since 1997 in Parque da Cidade. It is managed by CECP, a non-profit civil society organization based in São José dos Campos.
