Ua doubt and curiosity for many. Who has never wondered what is the maximum speed that a kinemometer, also known as speed radar, can capture?

O Auto by the Minute He looked for the answer, but the truth is that it was practically impossible to find. We believe that it will not be available even for security reasons, but that is not why we cannot give an answer to those who are most curious.

In 2022, according to data provided by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), a driver was ‘hunted’ by a radar on the A1 when he was traveling at exactly 284 km/h.

Cross-referencing this record with data from Spain, we realize that the maximum speed captured by radars can reach 320 km/h… just like in the neighboring country. This is because, according to the Motor1 website, the radars of the Spanish Guardia Civil ensure that speeds of up to 320 km/h are detected. In other words, in Portugal the numbers could be similar.

Maximum speeds aside, the best thing is to maintain everyone’s safety and respect the established limits, which is precisely what they are for: ensuring the safety of everyone who uses the roads.
