Brazilian dancer, costume designer and producer Miltercio Santos died on March 18, aged 60, announced a source linked to the artist, whose funeral will take place this Friday, at the Benfica Cemetery, in Lisbon.

Born in Bahia, Brazil, and resident in Portugal for over 30 years, Miltercio Souza dos Santos was known as “Mil” by those closest to him, and “leaves an indelible mark on the Brazilian artistic community established in Portugal”, highlighted the same source , in a statement.

Miltercio Santos has danced for choreographers such as Pina Bausch and performed alongside artists such as Watusi and Grande Otelo, joining in 2020 the band and artistic group of Brazilian singer and actress Puta da Silva, whose music focuses on everyday issues of immigrants, racialized people and sex workers.

When working with Puta da Silva, he was responsible for the band’s production and dramaturgy, performing on various stages across the country, namely Festival Iminente, Pride Lisboa, Futurama, Tremor, among others.

The funeral ceremonies for Miltercio Souza dos Santos began on Thursday, in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the Basilica da Estrela, and today the funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral at the Benfica Cemetery, in Lisbon, where he will be buried.
