Samara Mapoua He was released from prison this past Sunday morning (3/31). Last week, the content creator was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon and taken to the Benfica prison, located in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. On social media, the influencer’s mother posted the exact moment of her release, in which the young woman was welcomed by friends and family.
Why was Yago Mapoua, Samara, armed?
Samara claimed that she was armed because she “had too many followers”. The weapon, a 380 caliber pistol, was unmarked and number was scratched off. The object was located under the front passenger seat of Yago’s car and was fully loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition.
On Saturday, Samara, through her advisor, gave her version of the events, in which she claimed to have admitted that the weapon was hers to avoid further problems.
“I’m fine, really, I don’t want anyone to go through this, but I’m here because I made a decision to protect and defend whoever was with me. That whole scenario was a lot of pressure and the only option I found at the time was to declare that the gun was mine so that everyone could get out of that situation […] It wasn’t out of malice, it was an accident!” he concluded.

Yago is 30 years old and has more than 450 thousand followers on social media. Deactivated after arrest, the profile is active again and has all the influencer’s photos.
