The mother of Mafalda de Castro has multiple sclerosis and, in conversation with Rui Maria Pêgothe presenter spoke about the subject.

“I think it taught me fear, truly. That thing that doesn’t just happen to others… I think we’re all aware of that, more or less. Of course, it’s more real when it knocks on our door, but I think we’re all aware of it. of that. Fear and the thing of not planning. That’s what I always deal with”, he began by saying, in the podcast “Under the Tongue”.

“I never know how she’s going to be, I never know what it’s going to be like this week, the next and today. And that made me feel scared and I always thought: ‘I don’t deserve it, because I’m an only child. Why did it have to be my parents?’. But everyone feels that way, for sure. I don’t deserve it, she doesn’t deserve it”, he continued.

“AND [assustador], because it is very uncertain. She’s fine, as far as possible. It has some limitations and we live with it. It seems that we have almost normalized these limitations”, said Mafalda de Castro.

“They say it’s the disease with a thousand and one faces. It can develop anywhere in the body. It’s an autoimmune disease and it’s scary in that sense. Anything can happen, we can be unable to see, unable to walk. We don’t know, we can’t predict. There is no medication for that, just to control some outbreaks. My mother has fewer outbreaks with this medication”, concluded the presenter.
