The document cites a decision by the STF that approved the use of racism laws to punish homophobia. In 2019, when voting to criminalize homophobia, ministers cited above all the violence suffered by gays, lesbians and transgender people in the country.

Failing to recognize a person’s possibility of living their sexuality is depriving them of one of the dimensions that give meaning to their life. Understand the case

The couple requested a quote for invitations from the studio via WhatsApp. To the UOL, Henrique Nascimento, 29, who contacted the online store, said that the service was going well until he mentioned the names of the bride and groom, two men. He and Wagner Soares, 38, have been together for eight years and seven months and are already married, but they plan to hold a party to celebrate their union in September next year.

Loja informed that it could not make “homosexual invitations”. In the conversation, to which the UOL had access, after Henrique sent references for invitation models, the Jurgenfeld studio, located in Pederneiras (SP), recommended that the couple look for another company. “I apologize for this, but we do not make homosexual invitations. It would be nice for you to look for a stationery store that meets your needs”, wrote the person responsible for the company.
