The film “28 Days Later” starring Cillian Murphy receives a new sequel, and its stars have already been found.

“28 Days Later” is a film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, who took inspiration from the “Living Dead” saga and the book “The Day of the Triffids” by John Wyndham, where a virus dominates the United Kingdom, transforming them into zombies. A man wakes up from a coma and finds a world he doesn’t recognize.

This feature film starred Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”, “Peaky Blinders”), but also featured Naomie Harris (“Moonlight”, “007: Skyfall”), Christopher Eccleston (“Thor: The Dark World”, “Doctor Who”), Megan Burns and Brendan Gleeson (“Calvary”, “In Bruges”, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”).

This film gave impetus to other similar projects at the beginning of the millennium, such as “WWZ: World War” with Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos and Daniella Kertesz, “Welcome to Zombieland” with Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Woody Harrelson, or even the popular series “The Walking Dead” with Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln and Melissa McBride. With the success of “28 Days Later” other sequels emerged: “28 Weeks Later” with Jeremy Renner, Rose Byrne and Robert Carlyle; and two comic book series.

Now a new film, “28 Years Later”, is on the way, which features the return of Boyle as director and Garland as screenwriter. In addition, it also features the return of Cillian Murphy. However, this time Murphy will not be the protagonist but one of the executive producers.

Not many details are yet known about the plot of this film, but it is expected to be a continuation of previous stories, perhaps from the point of view of new characters.

However, the new stars of this sequel are already known, with the choice of Jodie Comer, star of “The Killing Eve” and “The Last Duel” by Ridley Scott, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, star of “Kick-Ass – The New Superhero”, “Outlaw King”, and the possible choice for James Bond, and Ralph Fiennes, the eternal Voldemort from the Harry Potter saga.

One of Jodie Comer’s upcoming projects is the film “The Bikeriders” with Austin Butler (“Elvis”, “Dune – Dune: Part Two”) and Tom Hardy (“Inception”, “Mad Max: Fury Road”). As for Taylor-Johnson, one of her next projects is Marvel’s “Kraven the Hunter” with Russell Crowe (“Les Misérables”, “Gladiator”) and Ariana DeBose (“West Side Story”, “Wish: The Power of Desires”).
