On the night of March 15th, a video was released from the Espaço Renascer Institutional Reception Unit, where a security guard and a teenager are in conflict.

The teenager seen in the video was welcomed in January, following a decision by the Guardianship Council. Diagnosed with ODD – Oppositional Defiant Disorder and other mental disorders, causing the young woman to have episodes of outbursts and attacks against the employees and sheltered people who are sheltered there, children aged 0 to 17.

Since its reception, numerous police reports have been registered, including one for corpus delicti, in order to record episodes of aggression with the use of bladed weapons, broken glass at the time of the outbreak, and protect the caregivers who are there.

It should be noted that the entire process, from the day the teenager is welcomed, is the responsibility of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Judiciary, partners in building strategies to protect the teenager and those around her.

The Secretariat of Social Development and Citizenship repudiates any acts of aggression or violation of the rights of children and adolescents, as it is their obligation to protect and defend them. It is also noted that the video misrepresents the security action, which at the moment was using containment strategies to protect the other children in care, avoiding the imminent risk of aggression, given the teenager’s outburst.

Still in time, we note that all necessary actions are being taken, which is in action with the Public Prosecutor’s Office so that the rights of the teenager and others are guaranteed.
