OAB-PI caravan brings justice and citizenship to the community in the southeast zone of Teresina

The Caravan of Commissions in Action, an OAB-PI initiative, was an absolute success! This Saturday (23), dozens of people gathered at the Nossa Senhora de Fátima Chapel, in the Manoel Evangelista neighborhood, in Teresina, to have access to a range of free and quality services.

The community in the Southeast zone of the capital of Piauí benefited from several actions, such as legal guidance, informative lectures and well-being actions. Legal guidance was highly sought after. The population had the opportunity to ask questions about their rights and duties, receive important information and be referred to other bodies and services, when necessary.

In the health area, Caravana, through its partners, offered Covid-19 tests, blood glucose tests, blood pressure measurement, lectures on oral health and men’s health, as well as well-being actions for women, such as massage and haircut.

The Deputy Coordinator of the OAB-PI Commissions and Coordinator of the Commissions Caravan Project, Lorena Corrêa, highlighted the importance of the initiative to bring the institution closer to the community and guarantee access to justice for all. “We are very happy with the success of Caravan. We would like to thank all the professionals who volunteered and the community that came out in force. This is proof that OAB-PI is committed to defending the population’s rights,” she stated.

The lectures also attracted a large audience, with topics relevant to everyday life. Renowned lawyers in their fields shared their knowledge and inspired the participants.

The lecture on female empowerment was given by the member of the Women Lawyers Commission, Maria Clara de Araújo, Consumer Rights by the president of the Consumer Law Commission, Lawyer Kaleo Alves. The debate on racism was led by the president of the Special Commission on Racial Equality, Lawyer Francildo Monteiro da Silva, the topic: welfare benefits for people with disabilities was discussed by the member of the Social Security Law Commission, Lawyer Rosana Portela. And closing the series of lectures, independent sales director Mary Kay Natália Carvalho spoke about female entrepreneurship.

OAB-PI thanks all the professionals who volunteered to make the Caravan of Commissions in Action a success, as well as the community in the Southeast area of ​​Teresina for their participation. The Caravan will be held in other regions of Teresina, with dates and locations to be announced soon.
