The Holy Week weekend, which starts on Thursday (28) and runs until Sunday (31), causes changes in the opening hours of commerce, shopping malls and public offices in Greater Recife.

Check out what’s open and what’s closed during the Easter weekend below:

According to the Chamber of Retail Managers (CDL), commerce in the Center of Recife and in the neighborhoods of cities in the Metropolitan Region have special operations during the weekend. On Good Friday (29), street stores in the center of Recife and neighborhoods operate on an optional basis. On Saturday (30) and Sunday (31), street commerce operates normally – for establishments that open on these two days of the week.

Malls have their own opening hours:

  • RioMar Recife: Friday, from 12pm to 9pm; Saturday, from 9am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Shopping Recife: Friday, from 12pm to 9pm; Saturday, from 9am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Plaza Shopping: Friday, from 12pm to 9pm; Saturday, from 9am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Shopping Patteo Olinda: Friday, from 12pm to 9pm; Saturday, from 9am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Shopping Guararapes: Friday, from 12pm to 9pm; Saturday, from 9am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Boa Vista Mall: Friday, from 11am to 7pm; Saturday, from 9am to 9pm; and Sunday, from 11am to 7pm.
  • Camara Shopping: Friday, from 12pm to 9pm; Saturday, from 10am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Shopping ETC: Friday, from 12pm to 6pm; Saturday, from 9am to 9pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 6pm.
  • Shopping Costa Dorada: Friday, from 12pm to 8pm; Saturday, from 9am to 10pm; and Sunday, from 12pm to 8pm.
  • Shopping Igarassu: Friday, from 12pm to 8pm; Saturday, 9am to 9pm; Sunday, from 12pm to 9pm.
  • Recife Outlet: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 9pm.
  • Markets and public fairs in Recife open from 6am to 6pm, on Thursday (28th);
  • On Good Friday (29), opening hours are from 6am to 1pm;
  • On Saturday (30), opening hours are from 6am to 6pm; and on Sunday, from 6 am to 12 pm.

There will be no service at bank branches on Good Friday (29), according to the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban). The same goes for bank compensations, including Available Electronic Transfer (TED).

Self-service areas will be available to customers, as well as digital and remote service channels (internet and mobile banking). PIX, which operates 24 hours every day and on holidays, can be done normally.

From Thursday (28) until Sunday (31), the Court of Justice of Pernambuco (TJPE) operates on judicial duty, in all districts. Urgent civil and criminal demands, such as habeas corpus, writs of mandamus and precautionary measures, can be resolved via remote assistance.

Forensic duty opening hours will be from 1pm to 5pm. You can check the telephone numbers on the TJPE website.

Post offices will not open on Good Friday (29). In the service channels, the operation will take place through the postal service’s virtual assistant. Service with operators will resume on Monday (1st), starting at 8am.

Automated channels operate every day of the week, 24 hours a day. Are they:

  • Correios website, on the Contact Us page;
  • By telephone: 0800 725 7282 / 0800 725 0100 / 3003-0100;
  • Via company chat.

On Saturday (30), the branches that are already open on this day of the week will operate normally.

There will also be mail and package delivery activities. Addresses and opening times can be found on the Correios website

During the holiday, Recife’s vaccination centers will operate for Influenza immunization and updating vaccination records at the following locations and times:

  • Vaccination Centers at Tacaruna, Riomar, Recife, Boa Vista shopping malls: 9am to 7pm;
  • Ermírio de Moraes Health Center, in Casa Forte: 8am to 6pm;
  • Carrefour (Av. Cap. Gregório de Caldas, 121, Areias): 8am to 4pm.
  • Vaccination Centers at Tacaruna, Riomar and Recife shopping malls: 12pm to 7pm;
  • Shopping Boa Vista Vaccination Center: 11am to 7pm;
  • Ermírio de Moraes Health Center, in Casa Forte: 8am to 6pm.
  • Vaccination Centers at Tacaruna, Riomar, Recife, Boa Vista shopping malls: 9am to 7pm;
  • Ermírio de Moraes Health Center, in Casa Forte: 8am to 6pm;
  • Espetinho do Ivan (Rua Itaquice, 135, Ipsep): 9am to 4pm;
  • Dona Lindu Park (Boa Viagem): 12 to 7pm;
  • Córrego do Inácio Residents’ Association (Rua Córrego do Inácio, Nova Descoberta): 8am to 3pm.
  • Vaccination Centers at Tacaruna and Recife shopping malls: 12pm to 7pm;
  • Shopping Riomar Vaccination Center: 9am to 7pm;
  • Shopping Boa Vista Vaccination Center: 11am to 7pm;
  • Ermírio de Moraes Health Center, in Casa Forte: 8am to 6pm;
  • Ferreira Costa (Rua Cônego Barata, 275, Tamarineira): 9am to 5pm;
  • Wholesale of Gifts (Avenida Marechal Mascarenhas de Moraes, Imbiribeira): 9am to 4pm.
  • Urgent, emergency and hospitalization services remain 24 hours a day at the Agamenon Magalhães polyclinics, in Afogados, and Amaury Coutinho, in Campina do Barreto;
  • The Barros Lima (Casa Amarela), Professor Bandeira Filho (Afogados) and Arnaldo Marques (Ibura) polyclinics and maternity hospitals and the Maria Cravo Gama (Areias) and Helena Moura (Tamarineira) pediatric hospitals will also operate 24 hours a day;
  • The Recife Women’s Hospital, in Curado, suspends outpatient and imaging services during the Easter weekend, but continues to carry out regular and high-risk births, as well as gynecological and obstetric emergencies.
  • The Sony Santos Care Center for Victims of Violence, which operates in an annex to the Recife Women’s Hospital, will also provide multidisciplinary care for victims of violence.
  • The Recife Veterinary Hospital operates different opening hours on Fridays, from 7am to 1pm, for emergencies. From Monday (1st), it returns to normal opening hours, from 7am to 6pm.
  • Women’s services at the Recife Women’s Secretariat are closed during the Easter holiday. Service returns on Monday (1st);
  • The Clarice Lispector Reference Center, in Santo Amaro, remains open, from Sunday to Sunday, 24 hours a day. The center’s address is Rua Dr. Silva Ferreira, 122, Santo Amaro, Recife;
  • The Regionalized Specialized Service (SER) Clarice Lispector, in the Areias neighborhood, also maintains its service, from 7am to 7pm. The address Av. Recife, 700, Areias, Recife.
  • The tourism and leisure cycle lanes will be set up on Friday (29) and Sunday (31), from 7am to 5pm.
  • The “Olha! Recife” project, to raise tourist awareness, with free and guided tours, will have groups on Friday (29), leaving at 9:30 am, from Praça do Arsenal. More information on the website.
  • The Recife Botanical Garden, in the West Zone of the city, and the Econúcleo do Parque da Jaqueira, North Zone, will be closed between Thursday (28) and Sunday (31). The Botanical Garden reopens on Tuesday (2), from 9am to 3pm, with free entry.
  • The 27 units of the Recife Academy and the Geraldo Magalhães Sports Gymnasium (Geraldão) are closed on Thursday (28) and Friday (29).
