In recent years, Norwegian has been experiencing financial problems, worsened in 2019 with the temporary ban on flights with the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and, later, with the covid-19 pandemic.
The airline Norwegian recorded a loss of 904 million Norwegian kroner (around 77 million euros) in the first quarter, a decrease of 9% compared to the same period last year, it was announced this Thursday.
The net operating loss stood at 763 million Norwegian kroner (65 million euros), a decrease of 17%.
In recent years, Norwegian has been experiencing financial problems, worsened in 2019 by the temporary ban on flights with the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and, later, by the covid-19 pandemic. In turn, revenues grew, in the period under analysis, by 55% to 6,114 million Norwegian kroner (524 million euros).
Norwegian’s net financial debt increased by 42% to 5,810 million Norwegian kroner (496 million euros).
In the first quarter, the company transported 4.8 million passengers, which translates into growth of 4% compared to the previous year. In 2021, the airline completed a double restructuring process in Ireland and Norway.
