The Traumatology and Orthopedics sector of the Tasso Ribeiro Jereissati Municipal Hospital has cleared the queue for minor surgeries.
For more than 10 months, the unit has been carrying out monthly joint efforts for outpatient surgical procedures, such as removal of warts, cysts, lipomas, moles and biopsies.
In total, around 250 minor surgeries are performed per month.
Less complex procedures are scheduled within the sector after medical care.
According to the coordinator of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Sancha Pereira, on average, the patient is called within 8 days to undergo surgery. “We managed to speed up all the processes, making it easier to book these appointments faster here. We have two doctors who carry out the joint efforts every month. Today, we can say that we have cleared the queue; we only have one or two procedures to be done”, she celebrates.
In addition to ending the queue of minor surgeries, in the first three months of 2024 alone, the health unit carried out more than 2,450 consultations with patients of all ages. “We have five orthopedists and seven orthopedic trauma specialists who are able to meet demand, without compromising quality of care”, he explains.
