The Sanitation Management of the Municipal Water and Sanitation Company (EMASA) continues to provide preventive maintenance and unblocking the city’s sewage network branches. Yesterday morning, the 25th, one of the branches on Avenida Ilhéus was unblocked and part of the piping was replaced.

According to EMASA’s Sanitation Manager, Tauan Sampaio, this is routine work and seeks to avoid disruption to communities. “Misuse of the network is the main cause of blockages and, consequently, sewage overflow, which causes inconvenience to surrounding residents and passersby,” he said.

The EMASA Sanitation Manager recalled that the disposal of some items, mainly toiletries for personal use and vegetable oil in the residential sewage collection network harms the entire sanitary sewage system.

“Community collaboration is essential for the proper functioning of the sewage network. Misuse of the system by some users compromises the network and harms everyone. It is important to avoid disposing of hygiene items and cooking oil in the toilet and sink, respectively”, stated Sampaio.
