Lily Allen, British pop singer, sparked controversy because of statements she made in an interview she gave to the Radio Times.

The 38-year-old singer noted that her two daughters “complete her”, but that they “totally ruined” her career

“I never had a strategy when it came to my career, but yes, my daughters ruined my career”he noted.

“I mean, I love them and they complete me, but when it comes to pop stardom, they’ve totally ruined me.”he added, in a lighter tone, as highlighted by the international press.

“It really irritates me when people say we can have it all, honestly, we can’t”he further said.

Allen, 38, whose daughters were born from her previous marriage to Sam Cooper, explained that she decided to step away from the world of music because she didn’t want to repeat the same mistakes as her parents, who were “absent” in her childhood.

Remember that the singer’s father is actor Keith Allen and her mother is producer Alison Owen.

“I feel like this [a ausência dos pais] It left deep marks that I am not willing to repeat. I chose to step back and focus on them, and I’m glad I did, because I think they are very complete people.”he concludes.

It should be noted that Allen achieved success in his journey in the United Kingdom, managing to reach the top spot with three hits and the top 40 around 15 times. Her first album, ‘Alright Still’, which includes hits like ‘Smile’ and LDN’, catapulted her to fame and resulted in a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album at the Grammy Awards in 2008.

She currently lives in New York with her daughters and her husband, David Harbour, star of ‘Stranger Things’, whom she married in 2020.
