The 43-year-old actress has undergone four surgeries in the last ten months, including a double mastectomy performed 30 days after the biopsy.

Olivia Munn made it public that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. On Wednesday, the actress shared on Instagram a gallery of photos and a video, where she appears in the hospital, with a caption that read: “I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope that by sharing this it helps others find comfort, inspiration and support on your own journey.”

Munn also shared three slides of text in the post where she explained that “in February 2023, in an effort to be proactive about my health, I took a genetic test that checks for 90 different cancer genes.”

“My test came back negative for everyone, including BRCA (the best-known breast cancer gene). My sister Sara had also just tested negative. We called each other and laughed on the phone. That same winter , I also had a normal mammogram. Two months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Munn wrote.

The 43-year-old “X-Men” star continued to explain that she has undergone four surgeries in the last ten months, including a double mastectomy performed 30 days after the biopsy.

According to Munn, there were also many days in bed and his learning “about cancer, cancer treatment and hormones was greater than he could have ever imagined”.

“Surprisingly, I only cried twice,” he wrote. “I guess I just didn’t feel like there was time to cry yet.”

According to Munn, her gynecologist discovered the cancer by choosing to calculate her “Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score,” which she said “looked at factors such as my age, family history of breast cancer and the fact that I had my first child after I was 30.”

“Because of that score, I went for an MRI, which led to an ultrasound, which then led to a biopsy. The biopsy showed that I had Luminal B cancer in both breasts. Luminal B is an aggressive, fast-moving cancer. “.

According to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, “women with luminal B tumors tend to have very high survival rates.”

Munn considers herself “lucky” as “the cancer was caught in time to have options.”

“I want the same for any woman who may have to face this one day,” she wrote. “Ask your doctor to calculate your Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score.”

Munn also thanked his friends and family for their support, including his partner, comedian John Mulaney, with whom he has a young son, Malcolm.
