Nursing plays an essential and multifaceted role in the fight against HIV/AIDS, as well as tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, syphilis and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), working to prevent, diagnose, treat and eliminate these diseases. For Elton Almeida, technical consultant at DATHI, it is essential to create bridges for discussing the topic. “The role of professional nurses is of paramount importance in various areas of assistance and in the management of the Unified Health System (SUS), highlighting their significant role in combating HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, syphilis and other STIs” , highlights.

“It is crucial to promote spaces for dialogue on these issues involving different actors, including the three spheres of government, Cofen and the Regional Nursing Councils. This will strengthen the legislation that regulates professional practice, allowing the request of complementary exams and the prescription of medications through protocols, facilitating the work process and the preparation of care plans”, he concludes.
