The State Department of Health of Minas Gerais confirmed this Thursday (29), two more deaths from arboviruses in the East of Minas, in Coronel Fabriciano and Vargem Alegre.

The victims of the latest confirmation are an elderly man, aged 80, resident of Vargem Alegre, the cause of death was chikugunya. The other death was that of an elderly woman, aged 70, resident of Coronel Fabriciano. The test results showed that the cause was dengue.

According to the secretariat, the two elderly people had hypertension and their health was worsened by diseases caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

According to the epidemiological bulletin released on February 26, Minas Gerais recorded 311,063 probable cases (notified cases, except those discarded) of dengue. Of this total, 108,027 cases have been confirmed for the disease.

Until now, there are 35 confirmed deaths from dengue in the state and 176 are under investigation.

In relation to chikungunya fever, 33,833 probable cases of the disease, of which 21,688 were confirmed. Until now, seven deaths have been confirmed and 21 are under investigation.

As for the Zika virus, to date, 54 probable cases have been recorded. Six cases of the disease were confirmed. There are no deaths confirmed or under investigation in the state.
