World Tuberculosis Day was held this Sunday, March 24, an important date to alert the population about early diagnosis and adequate treatment to cure the disease, as tuberculosis (TB) is still a serious health problem public health, and one of the deadliest infectious diseases in the world.

With the theme, “Tuberculosis has treatment and cure!”, in Manaus, the Campaign to mobilize and fight against the disease is being carried out, until March 27th, as explained by the head of the Semsa Tuberculosis Control Center, nurse Alexandre Inomata.

This year, the capital of Amazonas has already registered 277 cases, according to data from the Municipal Health Department. Tuberculosis is a communicable disease and late diagnosis not only worsens the patient’s health situation, but also maintains the chain of transmission and the occurrence of new cases.

Diagnosis and treatment are free through the Unified Health System – SUS.
