City Hall publishes emergency decree for dengue

Published on 04/01/2024 at 1:13 pm

Jundiaí City Hall declared a public health emergency in the Municipality, due to the increasing proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and the increase in dengue cases. Decree No. 33,891, of March 27, 2024, is published in the Official Press this Monday (1).

According to the latest Arbovirus Bulletin, the city has 2,796 confirmed cases of the disease. Of these, 2,099 are indigenous, 146 imported and 551 are under investigation to determine the location of transmission.

“On a permanent basis, we always work to combat and prevent arboviruses. In October, the actions were implemented and, in December, with the alerts issued by the Ministry of Health and the State Government, we installed the Situation Room to monitor the scenario and reinforce the strategies. At this time, given the increase in cases, as is happening in the country, we declare a state of emergency. Until then, we followed the State decree”, explains Health Promotion manager, Tiago Texera.

Actions have been carried out in all regions of the city

The emergency situation allows the Municipality to adopt administrative measures necessary to contain the increase in cases, with greater flexibility. Among them: the acquisition of inputs and materials; the hiring of services strictly necessary to respond to the emergency situation; the extension, in accordance with the law, of contracts and administrative agreements that favor the fight against mosquitoes that transmit dengue viruses and other arboviruses; and the hiring of employees, for a determined period, to meet temporary needs of exceptional public interest.

As of the decree, in force for four months, which may be extended depending on the situation, the Intersectoral Committee for Prevention and Combat of Dengue was also established, composed of representatives from various Management Units and city hospitals, to prepare and implement more strategies, coordinate mobilization actions with the population, among other initiatives.

“The Public Power is acting. Daily, teams are on the streets inspecting properties, looking for mosquito breeding sites and providing guidance to the population; our servers were trained to fully care for cases in health services, following the Ministry of Health protocol; educational activities are being developed in schools; vehicle fogging is occurring in locations with high transmission; there was reinforcement in the collection of unusable materials; and we have campaigns to raise awareness among the population on the streets. But it is essential that the population does their part, eliminating any objects that can accumulate water. 85% of breeding sites are in homes. If the mosquito is not born, we do not have the disease”, adds Texera.
