The Ministry of Health reported this Tuesday (2) that Brazil will have 991 confirmed deaths from dengue, in 2024 alone. The epidemiological scenario was updated, in a press conference, at the department’s headquarters, in Brasília. Still according to data from the Ministry of Health, the country has 2,624,300 probable cases of dengue and another 1,483 deaths under investigation.
Minas Gerais is among the eight units of the Federation with a downward trend in cases. To date, 11 states have declared an emergency due to the increase in dengue cases, including Minas. According to the Ministry of Health, 465 Brazilian municipalities also declared an emergency, including 212 cities in Minas Gerais.
The Ministry of Health sent 1,235,119 doses of the dengue vaccine to the states and the Federal District. To date, 663,338 have been applied, which corresponds to 53.71% of the doses available for the target audience.
The dengue vaccine is available for people aged between 10 and 14 years, which according to the Ministry of Health, corresponds to the public with the highest proportion of hospitalizations due to the disease.
