Dengue: cases increase and teams work in neighborhoods to contain the disease

With the release of new test results, Jundiaí has accumulated 3,836 cases of dengue – more than 37%, since the last Arbovirus Bulletin on March 29th. Of the total, 2,646 are indigenous, that is, contracted in the city. 3,758 tests are awaiting confirmation. In the country, there are already more than 2.6 million probable cases, which resulted in 1,020 deaths, according to data from the Ministry of Health, also from this Wednesday (2).

“The entire city is receiving action to search for breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, search for people with symptoms and provide guidance. We are also carrying out nebulization in some regions, and we have acquired and are distributing over 15 thousand rapid tests to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment. We are taking action, but the properties still have breeding sites and objects with stagnant water. That’s why we have mosquitoes flying and people getting sick. The numbers are reflecting this. The population needs to help in this fight”, highlights Health Promotion manager, Tiago Texera.

Ivoturucaia underwent a new inspection

The Ivoturucaia neighborhood continues to be the location with the most cases: 560 occurrences. This Wednesday (2), for the fifth time, teams from Environmental Health Surveillance (VISAM) and Community Health Agents (ACSs) visited homes, checking the presence of mosquito outbreaks and raising awareness among residents.

“It’s more reinforcement for us to reverse this scenario. The region has already received three nebulization cycles and actions to collect unusable waste. Unfortunately, we still come across objects with stagnant water and trash in the streets. A simple bottle cap is enough to create a new mosquito breeding ground. Dengue kills and the country has already recorded many deaths this year”, stated the manager of Environmental Health Surveillance (VISAM), biomedical doctor Ana Lúcia de Castro Silva.

At the house of cleaning lady Maria do Rosário Rosa, everything was in order. He highlighted that he knows how bad the symptoms are. “I didn’t catch it, but I know the suffering is great. I’m scared,” he commented, shortly after opening the gates for the team to inspect his pots.

Housewife Elisangela Rodrigues insisted on letting the agents work and listened, once again, to all the instructions. “It’s not the first time they’ve been here. The first time, I had dishes in the vases and they spoke. I removed everything and now everything is fine, because I’m always keeping an eye on it. I also pay attention, looking at the street and talking to people to avoid getting sick. There are still people who are not cooperating,” she stressed.

In addition to Ivoturucaia, the neighborhoods with increasing incidents are: Jardim Tamoio (194 cases), Jardim do Lago (182), Vila Ruy Barbosa (179), Vila Rami (98), Vila Nambi (92), Jardim São Camilo (77), Agapeama (75) and Vila São Sebastião (61).
