Representative Cristiano Galindo (Solidarity), through bill no. 8133/24, aims to establish the PrecivityAD2 exam, to detect Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The parliamentarian emphasizes that the examination will be carried out by a qualified professional, in the health unit itself, and if the patient is diagnosed with the disease or any indication of its existence, he will be referred for appropriate treatment, at all stages, in the public network. of health.

“PrecivityAD2 is a test for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. This innovation brings an immense benefit, as it is a non-invasive test and does not expose the patient to radiation”, highlights the legislator in justifying the proposal.

According to Galindo, PrecivityAD2 achieved an accuracy of 88% when compared with brain amyloid PET results. “Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the blood test complements, but does not yet completely replace, other diagnostic methods for Alzheimer’s,” he says.

The test is carried out by sending samples of the patient’s blood to the United States for analysis by mass spectrometry, a process that detects brain changes characteristic of Alzheimer’s, such as amyloid beta proteins. The result is ready within 20 days.

In conclusion, Galindo explains that Alzheimer’s disease affects the patient’s memory, speech and sense of space and time, which can cause apathy, delirium and in some cases aggressive behavior.
