Blumenau confirms expansion of flu vaccination

Starting this Friday, the 26th, Blumenau City Hall, through the Health Promotion Secretariat (Semus), follows the recommendation issued by the State Health Secretariat (SES), with the expansion of flu vaccination to children up to 12 years old. This public and other priority groups can look for one of the city’s health units with an active vaccination room to protect themselves from the flu, taking an official document with photo and vaccination card. The flu vaccine offered in the public health network is trivalent, which protects against the main influenza viruses circulating in Brazil, which are influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B.

The Secretary of Health Promotion, Jaqueline Mocelin, says that the goal is to immunize around 128 thousand people by May 31st. “Flu vaccination is an effective measure to prevent complications and reduce transmission of the virus, especially in vulnerable groups, therefore, expanding the age range is very important, especially now, with the arrival of autumn, a period of higher incidence. respiratory diseases”, he comments.

* Armed Forces professionals;
* People with chronic non-communicable diseases and other special clinical conditions regardless of age;
* People with permanent disabilities;
* Truck drivers;
* Public road transport workers for urban and long-distance passengers;
* Port workers;
* Population deprived of liberty and employees of the deprivation of liberty system, adolescents and young people aged 12 to 21 years old with socio-educational measures.
