With the aim of welcoming and guiding pregnant women in the city, Betim City Hall is promoting the “Conversation Circle with Pregnant Women” for future mothers and their companions. Especially in the month of May, two editions will be held: next Sunday (5) and Sunday (19). The meetings will take place from 9am to 11am, at Felisberto Neves Park. To participate, it is not necessary to register in advance.

The project aims to disseminate good care practices, contributing to the empowerment of women at all times during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. The Conversation Circle with Pregnant Women will be held monthly on the third Sunday of each month.

“Our objective is to promote women’s empowerment and protagonism for a healthy pregnancy and the experience of a respectful birth. In this way, we will be contributing to the reduction of cesarean sections without clinical indication and, improving the municipality’s maternal and child health indicators”, explains the technical reference for Women’s Health, Elis Regina Pinheiro.

In the conversation circle, pregnant women and companions will be guided by a multidisciplinary health team and volunteer doulas about prenatal care, rights and duties during pregnancy, and the right to a respectful birth. On this occasion, a presentation will be made about the Betim Mother and Child Center – the SUS reference maternity hospital for Betim and 12 other municipalities in the health region.

Visit to the Betim Mother and Child Center

Also with the aim of welcoming pregnant women and clarifying their doubts, the Maternity Visit project opens the Betim Mother and Child Center (CMI) so that future mothers, who will give birth at the unit, can see the facilities. Visitation takes place from Monday to Friday, at 10am, and can be attended by up to three couples simultaneously. Parents interested in visiting the CMI must make an appointment by sending a message, via WhatsApp, to the number 98434-7953.

During the visit, pregnant women and their companions get to know the CMI facilities – the natural birth center, the pre-delivery room, the shared accommodation and the neonatal intensive care unit. CMI rules, visiting and companion times, and the care that must be taken before, during and after birth are clarified.

Pregnant Couple Course

In addition to visits to the CMI, future parents can also participate in the Pregnant Couple course. Held in a conversation circle format, participants receive guidance and can clarify their doubts about the moment of birth and postpartum with the professionals of the clinical staff – doctor and obstetric nurse, pediatrician, anesthetist and multidisciplinary team.

Two editions of the course have already been carried out successfully, in March and April this year. The CMI board is organizing the next meetings, which do not yet have a defined date. Interested parents can get in touch to find out more information via message, via WhatsApp, also to the number 98434-7953.
